Two students from Bicton College, part of The Cornwall College Group (TCCG), have been announced as finalists at Lantra and Landex’s prestigious Land-Based & Environment Learner of the Year Awards.
Ben Morgan-Brown and Reuben Mason are amongst 120 nominees from colleges, universities and employers across England and Northern Ireland who have been shortlisted for this year’s awards.
The finalists are being recognised for their outstanding achievements, following a rigorous judging process conducted by industry and sector experts.
In celebration of remarkable accomplishments, Ben and Reuben have been invited to the official ceremony on Wednesday 22nd November 2023 at Reaseheath College in Cheshire.
“It’s absolutely fantastic to be recognised for the Environment, Conservation, Game and Wildlife category at the Lantra and Landex awards,” said Ben, who studied on the Level 3 Land & Wildlife Management Diploma at Bicton College. “I’m currently working for Wild East Devon as assistant nature reserve ranger and I’m hoping to progress within my team in the coming years.”
Reuben, an 18-year-old from Ashburton, who is studying the Level 3 Land Based Service Engineer Diploma, has been nominated for the Land Based Engineering category, he commented: “I’m thankful to Bicton College for supporting me on my educational journey. With their help, I have accomplished so many things, including passing my Level 2.
“I want to continue working with Halse South West in the land-based industry, it’s an amazing place to be a part of in the South West,” Reuben added.
Adding an extra layer of distinction to the event, the renowned farmer and TV presenter, Adam Henson, will be the host for the evening; which will include an exclusive VIP pre-reception, a celebratory three-course meal and a presentation of the prizes.
Farmers Weekly is the media partner, while Land Based Assessment Ltd (LBAL) stands as the overall Awards sponsor, with a number of organisations sponsoring the different categories.
A spokesperson from Lantra and Landex hailed the event as a “memorable evening, celebrating the talent and achievements of all the nominees.”
