Course information

Horticulture tutor in greenhouse This is a theory based course focusing on plant growth, propagation and development.

The following subjects -

Plant classification, structure and function
Plant nutrition and the root environment
Maintaining plant health
Understanding plant propagation

A keen interest in general horticulture and enthusiasm to learn the principles in this area.

To achieve this Certificate you will need to pass one exam for each of the named subject areas for this qualification. The exam consists of short answer and long answer questions to test your knowledge. It is possible to pass the course with a commendation, subject to achieving 70% or above in each exam.

The RHS course at Level 3, RHS practical at level 2, or become self-employed gardeners and work for other organisations in a gardening role, plus working in plant nurseries and garden centres.
