T Levels qualifications follow on from GCSEs. They are equivalent to three A-levels, but cover one subject, focusing on the vocational skills needed to succeed in the specific career path you’ve chosen.
T Levels have been designed with input from employers and businesses to give you the skills you need to move directly into industry or into a higher-level apprenticeship. T Levels also carry the same amount of UCAS points as three A-levels, giving you the option to continue studying at university level.
As a T Level student, you will spend around 80% of your time in the classroom, with the remaining 20% spent at a work placement. As well as gaining valuable experience in a workplace relevant to your course, this work placement will also help you to meet prospective employees and showcase your skills.

Because I wasn’t sure what route I wanted to take after college, I chose the T Level course because I liked that it gave me the option to go to university if I want to at the end of my course.

T Levels are a new qualification, first introduced in 2020, designed to give you a head start towards the future you want. They follow GCSEs and are equivalent to three A Levels. The two-year qualification brings classroom and work placement together, on a course designed with employers and businesses.
T Levels are ideal if you have completed your GCSEs and want to get the knowledge and experience needed to get a skilled job.
Yes, you can. T Levels get you work ready, but you can also continue studying with a higher apprenticeship or degree, as your T Level will provide you with UCAS points. For example, a starred distinction in a T Level is the equivalent of three A*s at A-level.
T Levels are designed with businesses and employers, to make sure you have the skills and knowledge they are looking for in an employee.
T Levels give you the opportunity to experience an industry while you continue your studies, with the opportunity to specialise later. While gaining practical experience, you also achieve the qualifications needed to move into a higher level of study, if you choose to later.
Apprenticeships are paid, work-based training for those who know what occupation they want to pursue.
You will need six GCSEs in total, with English and maths at grade 4 or above. Learners progressing from a Level 2 course will need a Level 2 Diploma with a good Merit profile, along with English and maths GCSE at grade 4 or above (or equivalent).
If you haven’t met the entry requirements, don’t worry – you may be eligible for our Foundation T Level which is a one-year course designed to prepare you for a full T Level.
