Bicton Animal Zone is home to over 130 different Species and is based in East Devon, near Exeter, and set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just two miles from the Jurassic Coast.

Ring tailed lemur

We have 4 Lemurs at Bicton, Chloe, Hira, Lea and Marco. They enjoy their days exploring their enclosures and tackling new enrichment they have been provided. Sunny days are a firm favourite and they spend lots of time soaking up the sun.

Axolotl

We have 5 Axolotls at Bicton, all of which have come from various settings, One named Tractor was born at Bicton and raised by a member of the team. Over 85% of the Animals at Animal Zone have moved to Bicton from a rescue setting.

Norman turkey

Norman has been at Bicton college since he was 6 months old, He is approaching his 8th birthday. Norman has attended rare breed shows and has been rather successful in his showing career winning champion on several occasion. Norman is a Bourbon Red Turkey, who loves nothing more that walking around and gobbling at everyone he meets.

Burmese Python

Rodney has been at the Animal Zone for a number of years now, He has recently had a new enclosure built for him as he is now nearly 14ft long! Rodney enjoys coming out of his enclosure and meeting everyone, You will find Rodney in our Exotics house.

African Pygmy hedgehog

Demi is our resident hedgehog at Bicton, she looks different to the hedgehogs you may see in your garden and she take a lot of specialist care. Her favourite foods are chicken and eggs and she love’s exploring outside when its sunny.

Indian Eagle Owl

Herbert has been at the college for over a year now, He has come from a rescue setting and it has taken some time for him to trust the staff but now he has had 1:1 time with a member of staff he has settled and enjoying life at Bicton.
