Course information

The Preparing for Employment course is for learners who wish to gain employability skills and experience to support them to progress into employment.

On this course, you will carry out a number of work placements as well as a group community project and learn valuable employability skills. Maths and English will also be part of your study programme.

Within this pathway you will focus on developing your employability skills within the workplace ready for employment. The aim is to help you to gain paid employment by developing valuable skills, building confidence, and demonstrating your abilities in the workplace

No entry requirements but you should be aiming to seek employment following this course.

Work experience is a key part of the Preparing for Employment course which you will be supported to obtain prior to the course starting.

Your assessment and progress will be based on an individually tailored non-accredited employability programme. This will focus on individual employability based targets and goals which are linked to outcomes related to your career goals and aspirations.

Bicton College is based in East Devon, near Exeter, and set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just two miles from the Jurassic Coast. The historic Georgian mansion, commercial farm, animal husbandry school, modern veterinary nursing building, world-class engineering and heavy plant machinery workshop, walled garden and arboretum are all set in over 200 hectares of historic parkland.
