City and Guilds Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training

AET Teaching Courses This programme qualifies graduates to teach in the further education and skills sector. Candidates will engage analytically and practically in all aspects of inclusive teaching, learning and assessment. Candidates will study up to date theories and principles in further education and develop their ability to demonstrate these within their own practice.

Successful completion of this programme will allow eligible candidates to apply for Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status through the Education and Training Foundation.

Students can expect to cover a range of theories, policies and procedures, alongside the practical teaching element of the course. Key modules include:

- Teaching, learning and assessment in education
- Developing teaching, learning and assessment in education and training
- Theories, principles and models in education and training
- Wider professional practice and development in education and training

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade 4/C or L2 Equivalent in English Language and Mathematics

Level 3 qualification in subject specialist area

Assessment

Assessment on this programme consists of a series of essays and practical presentations, as well as through a log of reflective teaching and lesson observations.

Progression

On completion of this course, graduates may choose to pursue Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status through the Education and Training Foundation.

Bicton College is based in East Devon, near Exeter, and set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just two miles from the Jurassic Coast. The historic Georgian mansion, commercial farm, animal husbandry school, modern veterinary nursing building, world-class engineering and heavy plant machinery workshop, walled garden and arboretum are all set in over 200 hectares of historic parkland.
