Bicton College and Duchy College are celebrating an unforgettable Devon County Show 2025, after being crowned Gold winners for Most Attractive Educational Exhibit for the fourth consecutive year and welcoming a royal visit from HRH The Princess Royal to their arboriculture display.
The two land-based colleges, part of Cornwall College Group, also took home Best Trade Stand trophy and a Silver Medal for their Floristry Trade Stand, rounding off an outstanding showcase of rural education at Devon’s largest annual event.
From dog grooming, vet nursing and floristry to Elite Riding Academy, agricultural engineering and horticulture, the colleges’ award-winning exhibit and stands captured the attention of judges, visitors and even royalty.
Arboriculture students from Bicton College, Joseph Chapman and Wilford Burgoyne, displayed their industry-leading equipment and climbing techniques, drawing a special visit from Princess Anne, President of the Devon County Show.
They spoke with HRH about their training and the crucial role arboriculture plays in protecting and managing rural landscapes, a proud moment for all involved.
“We are absolutely thrilled with this year’s results,” said Ed Parrish, Principal of Land-based Education and Environment at Cornwall College Group.
“Winning Best Trade Stand and securing a fourth consecutive Gold for Most Attractive Educational Exhibit is an incredible achievement, and being recognised with a visit from HRH The Princess Royal made it all the more special. It’s a true reflection of the passion, skill and professionalism of our staff and students, and the outstanding land-based education we deliver at Duchy and Bicton,” Ed added.
This continued success at Devon County Show 2025 further cements Bicton and Duchy Colleges’ outstanding reputations, offering a dynamic and practical learning experience for the rural careers of tomorrow.
